Myocardial Infarction - Acute - Reperfusion Injury Microscopy

Reperfusion injury often shows "leakage" of red blood cells into the interstitial space of the myocardium and even frank interstitial hemorrage. In this image the interstitial hemorrahge is prominent. Reperfusion injury can readily be seen on gross examination of the heart.
